Medical Cannabis for the Treatment of PTSD

On June 10, 2020, Spartan Wellness supported an online educational event, facilitated by Dr. Martin Katzman, Director of the START Clinic for Mood and Anxiety Disorders in Toronto.

The session was made available to people diagnosed with PTSD or those who simply wanted to learn more about the potential benefits of medical cannabis for the treatment of PTSD.

For those who were unable to attend the PTSD event, we are pleased to provide this video archive.

A large percentage of patients do not tolerate and/or respond to conventional treatment options for PTSD. The cannabinoid system plays a role in PTSD and may be a novel mechanism for treatment.

Marijuana use in patients with PTSD is common and may be associated with self-medicating. Clinical guidance is paramount.
